Helpful tips
- Match rod to current: 1/16″ ≈ 20–40A; 3/32″ ≈ 40–90A; 1/8″ ≈ 90–120A. Start low, increase as needed.
- Clamp to clean metal. Grind off paint/rust where the ground connects for a stable arc.
- Use short, steady beads. If the overheat light comes on, pause and let the unit cool.
- Keep rods dry. Store them in a sealed bag or tube to prevent moisture and spatter.
- Use a heavy-gauge extension cord and always wear proper PPE (helmet, gloves, long sleeves).
